Quince contains glucose, fructose and sucrose, tannins, mineral salts, malic, tartaric and citric acids, essential oil, iron, beta carotene and phytoncides.

Fruits have astringent, diuretic, hemostatic and antiseptic effects, and the seeds have emollient and anti-inflammatory properties.

Grated boiled fruits are also recommended for liver diseases.
