A.P.Selivanov

The trading house of the merchant of the first guild A.P.Selivanov was founded in 1884 and worked until the arrival of Soviets.

 

At the beginning of the XXI century his descendants resumed the work of one of the most respected trade enterprises of merchant Russia.

 

At the end of the 19th century, residents of Russia, from a simple housewife to the Emperor and members of his family, drank hot drinks from the Rostov merchant Selivanov.

Alexander Selivanov was one of the first in Russia to set up a steam factory for the production of food. With the highest support of Emperor Alexander III in 1884 in the Yaroslavl region on the shore of picturesque lake Nero was built modern factory, «powered by a locomobile». Eager to raise his production to the top of the best firms and trading houses in Russia and Europe, Selivanov equipped the factory with the latest technology of the XIX century.

The factory’s coffeehouse products have gained worldwide fame. It was Selivanov who received the first-class medal depicting Alfonso XII of Spain at the 1884 Madrid Exhibition. Thanks to recognition abroad, the strictest quality standards and lack of complaints, merchant Selivanov received the highest status of supplier of the Imperial Court.

Alexander Petrovich left his memory as a leading industrialist, philanthropist and public figure, who made honesty his life credo. Today, the successor of the famous merchant traditions of Selivanov is the coffee-cycorn combine «Aronap», which restored and equipped the enterprise with innovative equipment. «With taste and use» - this was the principle of Selivanov more than 100 years ago.
